Laws Governing the Native Plants of Arizona
TO REPORT VIOLATIONS IN THE TUCSON AREA, CALL THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AT (520) 628-6317

The Arizona Department of Agriculture web site has a great deal of information
relating to plants in the State of Arizona. All of Arizona's Agricultural Administrative Rules are available on the
web.
Information on plant salvage and recovery, which is governed by state law
under Arizona Revised Statutes Title 3, Chapter 7, "Arizona Native Plants" can be found there. The Department of Agriculture maintains lists of Protected
Plants. Their website also provides application forms to remove protected
plants in .pdf format which you can download to your computer for viewing
with Acrobat Reader.
The Plant Sciences Center in Sierra Vista has some guidelines for salvaging
plants.

Plant Salvage Information
This area reproduces Notices of Intent to Clear
Land received from the Arizona Department of Agriculture. Such notices
are intended to permit plant salvagers to salvage plants in areas scheduled
for
development and construction by both private property owners and state
and federal agencies.
Please refer to the Arizona Department of Agriculture web site links
shown above to access the relevant laws, Protected Native Plants List
and the
forms relating to salvage. It is the salvager's responsibility to operate
in accordance
with these laws and to contact governmental agencies and/or property
owners as necessary before salvaging.
By posting the following information, the Arizona Native Plant Society takes no responsibility for the legality of any particular salvage operation. If you have any questions about plant salvage procedures, tagging requirements, etc., please contact Jim McGinnis at the Arizona Department of Agriculture, (602) 364-0907.
